WiFi Status on iPaq 310

Here is all the information I could find about WiFi operation, from the Customization Forum. Please add more details if you can.

Summary

The SPECTEC SDW-821 works fine with the Odyssey Access Client, and this is now documented in the SpectecWifi wiki entry. Below are the other attempts to get WiFi cards working.

Details (reverse time order)

While the software, that comes with SDW-820 SDIO WLAN-11b contains WLAN client, it does not work with SDW-821 SDIO WLAN-11b/g nor such a client is included with the driver for SDW-821. There is no WIFI client, included in the WINDOWS CE 5.0 of Ipaq 310 (314, 316), nor I can find such a client that would work with SDW-821 SDIO WLAN-11b/g. I have read this forum closely. I have been searching for such a WIFI client, but still nothing.

But when I power-off, then power-on the it won't find the wlan network until full resent. So I installed the SAFECOM SWLSDI-1100 driver, it works with the SPECTEC card. Same problem. I like the SPECTEC UI tool because it minimizes with the radio signal strenght bars at the bottom, the SAFECOM tool does not. But the SAFECOM tool has a site-survey button. Has anyone found a way to configure/select a WLAN? I can't find a way to setup the WEP/WPA encryption, we have no "Network Cards" selection on the control panel. I CAN setup which SSID I want to join by modifying the Registry (HKLM\Comm\WLAN11b1\params\Ssid).

Sancho1234 replied: The root folder is missing every soft reset, and the system is copy the wince's component from ROM to the RAM. Use the MortScript for the copy, write a script! smile

02/25/2008: Sancho1234 wrote in reply to gpspassion about a Pretec Wifi card:

  • install the original PPC driver of the WLAN SD card,
  • find the wlan.exe, and copy the required dlls to dir of it,
  • turn off the WEP/WPA in your router,
  • run the wlan.exe,
  • wait the wifi signal and look at the first page of the WLAN SD settings... smile (my dll pack: http://sancho.hu/files/PDAMania/dll.zip)
