bbO RC1 - Custom Interface

- Installation procedure completely rewritten
- The user setting are not overwritten
- Now BBO is multilingual! (I'm looking for translator! Please, help me!)
- Enabled the import-export procedure
- Native support for TouchLock and Eurokeyboard (tnx to Bitblaster!)
- Ability to run programs BEFORE you turn on BBO
- Uninstall program
- No registry reset needed

This bbO RC1 can be used as first installation program or as an upgrade to earlier versions

Few notes...

1) if u need to run program before bbO starts, create a txt file into ResidentFlash\iPAQ\bbO\UserApplications with the full path to the file to run. Something like...
file: TouchLock.txt
contents: \ResidentFlash\iPaq\Programs\Utilities\TouchLock\TouchLock.exe
Of course, if u want to disable the file, u can delete the .txt or rename it as .bak, .old (as u like)
BEWARE! one program per file!

2) Please, test the IMPORT procedure!
I've included few files into the "bbO Share" directory.
From "Utilities -> bbo Setup" select "bbo Share -> Import application".
Browse the SD card and select, 4 example, xnview.bbO (or calendar or..), then import the apllication
It will be installed into the section defined by the "sender" (who create the .bbo files) into the first slot available, in the main or into the second page

3) ... test the EXPORT!
Try to export an application! One day maybe shared with all bbO users!

4) language files are stored into ...\bbO\Setup\Language.
If your keyboard takes dust and you do not know how to use your fingers, you might think to translate bbO labels, message etc... into your language or in English better than my

5) for 1.5 users....
the directories to backup (should not be necessary, but you never know ...) are:
\bbO\run
\bbO\pages
\bbo\setup\master

6) in SDMMC\Win32 utils, few utils like a terminal, a registry editor and so on... test it... no danger!

7) as in 1.5 version, u can still add a second page to each program section

1) Unpack bbO.rar on a SD card (256 MB are enought)
2) Copy all the files from \ResidentFlash\iPAQ\Bluetooth (from your iPAQ 31x) into the SD BlueTooth directory.
3) Copy all the files from \ResidentFlash\iPAQ\Games (on your iPAQ 31x) into the SD \Programs\Games directory.
4) If you previously installed MioPocket, you MUST reset the registry to the original value via Engineering mode.
5) Insert the SD card, reset the iPAQ and... wait! :)
6) Remove the SD card
7) Donwload and install RC1 Fix- SEE BELOW.

bbO RC1 FIX - INSTALL THIS PATCH AFTER YOU INSTALL VERSION RC1

This procedure fixes some bugs found in version RC1

IT'S A FIX FOR RC1 VERSION ONLY!!

FIXED:
- bbO startup procedure
- languages
- bbo share procedure

Unpack the rar archive on SD card and run the file: bbO-RC1-upgrade.mscr
The installation program will NOT delete or overwrite the original directory on your iPAQ.
All original data will be copied into \ResidentFlash\hpOS.
If you like bbO, you can delete hpOS with no problems.

To uninstall bbO:
1) Insert a SD Card with CELauncher.exe, or use the SD card with bbO setup program.
2) Reset the registry to the original value via Engineering mode.
3) Delete these directories:
- \ResidentFlash\iPAQ\bbO
- \ResidentFlash\iPAQ\OS
- \ResidentFlash\iPAQ\Programs
4) Rename the \ResidentFlash\iPAQ\hpOS into \ResidentFlash\iPAQ\OS
5) Remove the SD card
6) Reset the system

SETUP BBO

You can add, remove or edit up to six different navigation programs, six quick-dial phone numbers (yes, bluetooth is supported)

From "Utilities", select "bbO Setup", then one of the menu options.

Notes

You can close bbO with a double click on the bbO logo.
When you run a program, taskbar is hide. Click at the bottom of the screen to activate.
Large keybord is supported.

- The "Contact" icon is not working. I'm testing different programs and I hope to select one asap.
- Actually only english language is available.
- About games... I'm still looking for games with 800x400 px. resolution.
- Bluetooth graphic interface is not still adapted to the bbO style (but bluetooth is working!)

To do:
- an help manual!
- the script editor is in read only mode. If u save a script it will be ovewrite by the program
- the "jump to next page" option to extend the number of applications up to 16 for each bbO section.
- internet explorer seems working only on my iPaq...
- sometimes Opera exit with an error ("illegal operation ...") but, still on my system, works fine, with o without an SD card
- I'm trying to add a task manager working with the jog wheel
- ... many things, but I only have 10 fingers and a short time :)
- ... attending a school of English :)

Don't forget I starded working on bbO few weeks ago and, despite all the problems, I am quite happy with the outcome ( modest, isn't it? :)

I'm thinking to open a new topic in order to have all questions and comments grouped into one section.
Is it a good idea?
