FAQ: Why Is There No Guide Data on my OzTiVo?

My OzTiVo has no guide data for channels X and Y from [now,tomorrow,saturday] onwards? Why not?!

Answer:

Guide data for OzTiVo is built daily, and new TV guide "slices" are put up on the OzTiVo Emulator for you to download. However, we get the data from several places:

• OzTiVo members who manually upload guide data for us
• external web sites

If no data is provided for certain stations by these sources, then no guide data will appear on your OzTiVo. You can find out what gaps exist by consulting the daily gap report. Note, however, that even if your OzTiVo has downloaded all the latest data, it can take several hours to incorporate the new data.

Diagnosing Missing Guide Data Issues

If you believe that you are missing guide data on your OzTiVo, follow these steps to diagnose the problem.

1. Perform a Daily Call on your OzTiVo.
2. After it succeeds, telnet to your OzTiVo and do force_index30.tcl. This prompts the OzTiVo to start incorporating the new data as soon as possible.
3. Wait for your OzTiVo to finish re-indexing the new data. This can take half an hour or so. You can determine when it is finished by telnetting to your OzTiVo, and running the Bash command

         # grep 'Sweep done' /var/log/tvlog
      

   If you see "Sweep done (eSucceeded)", then re-indexing is complete.
4. Now check your OzTiVo to see what TV guide data it has.
5. Compare your OzTiVo's data to the on-line tvguide
6. If they differ, use the myslices finder to ensure that you really do have all the guides slices off the Emulator.
7. If there still is a problem, send your tivo-id by private e-mail to WarrenToomey.
